Steamboat Springs, Day 4

Jan 25, 2007 22:27

Another good day. This whole temperature inversion that I've been talking about? This morning was another example. I had to go to the Ski House a few miles away to pick up a new pair of goggles. When I got in the truck at 0800, it was 6°F. When I drove down into the village just a few hundred feet down into the valley, it became -4°F. Yeah, it's that crazy.

Anyway, I chose a full day of lessons and it paid off. I only had 3 people in my group. Later in the afternoon one of the students had a strap that broke leaving it to just the two of us. Our instructor, John, was great and taught us many things to improve our form. These are things that will take a great deal of practice. So, I have my homework. ;) My form is already better. High speed turns are much more stable. I also have a plan to improve tight turning capability by using mogul fields--very cool.

Tomorrow will be my last day on the slopes and looking forward to enjoying a full day out there on my own again. I have many things to practice now. I hope to hit the slopes early this time so that I can make some first tracks before everyone else.
