What: Breaking into the classroom and making Smelter go haywire.
This project that Smithy was making them work on... Orange Kid had been forced to work together with Apple Kid. And Apple Kid had, as usual, completely messed things up. Orange Kid just knew that was going to happen. Apple Kid's a failure, he can't do anything right.
Not only that, but the teacher had refused to let him make another machine on his own, to show his true skills. So, Orange Kid decided he'd take things into his own hands. Just sneak into the teacher's classroom, get the materials from that thing on the wall, and make his own creation, so Apple Kid wouldn't be able to ruin it. Perfect plan.
...Only problem was, the door was locked. The teacher probably had the key, and Orange Kid couldn't exactly go ask him for it. So, Orange Kid was forced to try to lockpick the door. Which Orange Kid had no idea how to actually do, so it pretty much just amounted to him constantly turning the knob back and forth and banging on the door.
Yeah, he probably wasn't going to get this door open on his own.
