For those ladies who want to make their own (very simple!) viking-era dresses for the wedding, this is the pattern I used. You can play with it however you want, with accessories and embroidery. Dress brooches can be purchased here.

I fell in with pirates over the weekend. There was much homemade rum and talk of ships and loyalties. Also singing. It was a good time. I love the SCA. I could go to an SCA event this weekend. The question is, should I? It's been such a horribly long time since I went to one, and I miss it lots. Still, it's a three hour drive each way, and I should be saving money.

I went out re-enacting today. It was great fun! I got sort of lost on the way there, but ended up in the right spot. The buckets of rain stopped falling before I parked and the weather cooled things off enough that my woolen garb was not actually uncomfortable ( Read more... )

It feels good to be home, but I just wanted to recount our little trip here. Thursday, I joined Ian and elanya in Edinburgh to indulge in a little Beltane festivity.
