One of the stories told last night was of Dad's return from his first stint as a PW consultant in Jakarta back in the 70s. He was driving with friends in Sydney, and was at a set of red lights, waiting to turn right. Which he proceeded to do... in front of a whole bunch of drivers who, in any "civilised" country, would have had right of way.

We went to an Indonesian restaurant in the New Farm suburb of Brisbane today by the name of Jakarta. The food was great, even if the staff were never present. Since we ordered a banquet, I can't recall every dish served, but Mel's recommendation that we go was certainly apt. It's all quiet on the flist front again. Must be the weekend or something. And, of course, I've been working. Not that it hasn't been hard forcing myself off to work, but I'm going to Brisbane tomorrow night, so my attendance needs to be flawless ( Read more... )

Got my leave approved, so I'll be spending a week in sunny Brisbane with my family. I'll book plane tickets and tell Dad tonight :)
