Not too much to report this month.  School is still going well.  The semester will be over in about two and a half weeks.  I have several Christmas gigs lined up, which is exciting.  I've been making reeds with a moderate amount of success, which is also exciting.  I'm really looking forward to performing again, because I don't think I have since ( Read more... )

So, I've sorta-kinda been working again, finally.  I've done a couple of ad hoc jobs for Deep South, and also got a gig working at the North Hills Beach Music Festival through them.  I check IDs and put wristbands on people for four hours every Thursday evening.  I also played third oboe on the Durham Symphony's last two concerts ( Read more... )

Shattering Sea - I can hear the influences of Stravinsky and other 20th-century composers in this piece, in the constantly shifting rhythms and moods. I especially like the low piano riff. It's an angry piece, and I can very clearly hear the rage and grief of this woman whose relationship has just ended. 4/5 ( Read more... )

My updates have been sporadic lately. This is because nothing terribly interesting has been going on. I get up, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and cross-stitch and/or read until it's time for bed. Rinse, repeat. Not that I'm complaining.
