I went out to do a loop or two of the run for warmup, and my legs felt awwwwwful. After having ridden 96 miles on Saturday, then riding another hour on Sunday and running 12 miles off the bike, my body wasn't too thrilled about the concept of "racing". Finally managed to go sub-30 again! I'm gonna attribute that to 3 things: (1) For some reason, I didn't have a bad attitude about S&D this month, (2) I warmed up two run laps with Karen, and (3) it was cooler (80s) and mostly overcast. Pam was signed up the Colin's Hope Got2Swim Quarry Lake Swim and wanted company, and Jamie said it sounded like it fit in perfectly to end my "do whatever you want 2 weeks", so I signed up. We could either do 1 loop (750m) or 2 loops (1500m), so I signed up for 2. Why not.

We "missed" the August S&D because we were in Quebec, having just finish an Ironman, but we're given the understand that it was rainy and cool. And September S&D was.. unseasonably cool (80s), meaning that EVERY SINGLE S&D IN 2012 WAS UNSEASONABLY COOL. That's just weird. And maybe it means they should hold more S&Ds ( Read more... )

Unseasonably cool! You wouldn't figure it could happen every single S&D for 2012, but it might be that it's going to happen! Of course, I think it was still probably the hottest S&D so far this year, but maybe low-mid 90s, instead of over 100! We'll take what we can get ( Read more... )
