Just two weeks until the end of my time here in Kamogawa.
Work isn't so busy as non-work is! My new home-to-be has finally been decided (I'll talk about that another day) so I've been trying to pack stuff up...but I have so much JUNK that I am starting to freak out about whether or not I'll actually be able to move it all up next weekend (the only time I have to move). It doesn't help that I have dinner/nomikai EVERYDAY from now until my last day (except for next Saturday/Sunday, which I'll be using to move in this infernal heat). I can feel it really taking a toll on my body, but I am trying to comfort myself with the idea that I can just pass out the first weekend after I move up to Chiba.
Anyway!!! Let me share (mainly FOOD) photos from dinner with my Kamogawa City Hall 女子部 last night <3
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE! I think there was marron in the middle. This was a total surprise from my friends...kinda felt like my birthday haha! I brought up the idea of having dinner one last time before I move...I figured it would be a 別れ会 type thing but wasn't actually expecting anything other than eating/drinking/random talk? so it made me really happy! But we divided the whole thing up between the four of us, so we each wound up eating a GIANT piece of cake...right after a full dinner XD.
We went to the new restaurant, Fusabusa, that had literally just opened on July 12th! This place used to be a soba restaurant, but a different person took over and remade it~. It's lovely on the inside, and they also have a bar and two tables on the terrace. Plus, it is right next to the beach so you can enjoy the scenery during the day! They also function as a cafe, so you can come here to relax and drink coffee/tea...not too many nice places like that here in Kamogawa.
The inside was super オシャレ and it had a really lovely ambience! The food was...洋食? I guess? but EVERYTHING (except for the alcoholic drinks) uses locally produced vegetables/locally caught fish, etc.
Because I am lazy, here are photos of our dinner food:
Giant salad made from 鴨川産 vegetables (+甘夏 orange!)
QUICHE! It has been ages since I had quiche <3<3<3 It had a ton of veggies in it!
Grilled fish topped with basil sauce~.
Spaghetti with tomato OCTOPUS sauce! Like, minced? octopus instead of standard meat sauce.
Mussels in white wine! It's been ages since I've had mussels too~.
All of the food was good, but the mussels were particularly AMAZING. (Probably why it was the restaurant's most recommended dish~.) Apparently Kamogawa is the only place in Japan where mussels are actually caught and are therefore natural? (I am being dumb and don't know how to properly say it in English...). Everywhere else in Japan produces mussels through cultivation.
At the end of dinner (and after the cake!) my friends presented me with this card and bouquet! I am awkward so I totally failed at expressing my gratitude/happiness...all I could do was keep saying thank you >_<.
A close up of the card!!! It is handmade and SUPER adorable!!! I shall hang it on my wall in my new apartment...really enjoy the face on the Alice sticker at the bottom.
Just two weeks left...I am exhausted (and feel like I am on the verge of catching a cold...) but I am determined to spend as much time as I can with my Kamogawa friends before I leave!!!
Hope everyone is well!!!
