It's blizzarding out.
Stephen King, Storm of the Century style. I mean this is the kind of howling in the eaves wind that gives you nightmares.
Really.
I can only hope that it keeps it up through tomorrow night and I get a last minute reprieve from lecturing on medieval cathedrals and giving midterm re-takes.
Strange things happened today and it must have been the storm. I almost had an illicit assignation - but I screwed it up kinda on purpose. Then I grumpy about it. I also got an email from the very last person I wanted to hear from, and promptly panicked about it. He ever so nonchalantly says, "So, I talked to your boss the other day (now, this guy he talked to? Not really my boss but it's semantics) and he had nothing but good things to say about you. Oh, and he unofficially offered me a job there with you this fall. We should get together and gossip."
Jesus, Mary, Joseph and all the saints help me. I thought that when I left school, I'd gotten rid of him for good. Apparently not. But it's fine. It's just one more good reason to get to work on those PhD applications, because I know he won't be applying to the same schools that I am. He has his heart set on Toronto. At least he did.
I watched the pilot episode of the x-files tonight, 'cause it was SO that kind of night, and that's where your quote comes from.
SCULLY: What I find fantastic is any notion that there are answers beyond the realm of science. The answers are there. You just have to know where to look.
MULDER: That's why they put the "I" in "F.B.I."
And your discussion question:
Conventional wisdom states that men are the more visual half of the species. Men, presumably, judge on appearances first and personality later. Men are attracted to nice legs and big breasts. They are reason the porn industry is so huge. Women, on the other hand, are attracted to power, wealth and intelligence. Physical attributes are of secondary importance, particularly those of a more intimate nature. My question is, then, are women aroused at all by the sight of male genitalia? Or is it just part of a larger package?
Discuss. :P
EDIT: Just because it's late and I'm liking 'em, I bring you:
"Secrets of A Salesman" (Only the first verse, though)
these baby secrets have grown into children
through dirty adolescence and now into manhood
I locked the basement door and broke off the skeleton key
but it made no difference still they travel with me even though I killed them they haunt me and they help me
remember the lies in the shadows, the practiced charades
my hands are an axe chopping at the roots
of the only family tree that could ever bear fruit
to cripple you to make sure that you never reproduce
another heart of lies or house of haunted rooms
