I've ordered the fabric - so it'll arrive by the end of the week or Monday, and I'm forcing myself to use a metre of the B&W stripe cotton fabric in my stash for the false blouse & cuffs.

Tonight I cut out the paper pattern. I was going to trace it, but it's a single size pattern so I'm just going to make my life easier!

I checked that I have zip, thread and overlocker thread for Dolores, and yesterday I graded up the Simplicity pattern (not quite my size) and did a full bust alteration that may or may not be dodgy.  I'm going to cut & sew a mock up of it, and if it works, may even use it to line the real thing - I want restrain the softer hand of my fabric without ( Read more... )

I've got at least 2 costume parties to go to later this month, and I'm thinking of a new costume, that'll work for two of them.  The one in early November has a "witches & bitches" theme, and cowabunga I've decided what to make, and realised that there won't be an audience cross over, so that I can wear it to the one the week before too ( Read more... )

always in the back of my mind is doing one of the Bouvier sisters from the Simpsons.  But their hair is one of the things I've been looking out for. As in looking out for a wig that would work.

I think this one might - curly grey wig on eBay -  frizzing out the ringlets into grey fuzz.  mwa ha ha

I'm not going to lace the front but pin or hook & eye it. Don't want to sew eyelets!  I don't think the diagonal goes to the side, but a little to the front of it.   Not sure that I'll machine embroider on the fichu.

I started off as a slow moving object & had to take migraine pills (that worked, yayy) before I headed over to faerie_mistress  place for a sewing bee.

I got my false rump stuffed & finished off, and the measurements over it from waist to floor at centre back, side and centre front. My 2 pieces of stash white self stripe linen are perfect. The 2.5m is long ( Read more... )
