There was no reason for Link to be in the library, all of the books in the library were written in that unreadable, Cucco-scratch of a language, and even if he could read it, Link was not the type to do research.

And yet, for some reason, there he was, in the library, wandering around the big, rather empty feeling, building. It was a library, there had to be something useful in here, though all he could find was a man, that he reconized from the network, pouring himself over piles of books.

"Found anything interesting?" He asked.

Huh. He hadn't noticed Link show up. Hell, he hadn't figured Link was the type to be in a library at all unless he had a puzzle to solve or something. Still, it was a good question.

"Kind of," he answered, looking up from the F volume of the encyclopedia open in front of him. "There's a lot of conflicting legends for a lot of these things, and until I know what version we're dealing with, it's tough to tell what will work best against them. Instead of not enough information, I have too much." That was a problem he never thought he'd have sans internet. Either way, he liked the idea of a study break.

"What about you? What are you up to?"

"Uh, maybe you should ask someone who's familiar with what we're dealing with," Link offered, "They might be able to help find what you're looking for?"

Link was sure there were people who were familiar with what this city had to offer, and he didn't mean the people who had brought them here. Link sat down in the seat across from Linkara, and looked in one of the books he wasn't reading.

"I thought I might find something that could help us in here, but books aren't really helpful when... you can't read them," He hesitated to admit that, because it wasn't like he couldn't read, he just couldn't read the language used here. And it made him feel a little helpless.

"I thought I could find something here before asking for information. Again." Thanks to Wikipedia, he was used to being the one with all the answers, not the one who had to ask for them. Role reversal sucked. "I think you're right, though."

He blinked a bit at Link's admission before it clicked. English was probably a pretty far cry from Hylian or whatever the language was in Hyrule. "Not the same language as where you're from, huh."

It was about time that Negi headed to the library himself. While it was nothing compared to the one at Mahora, Negi couldn't help but stop and marvel at its size and the sheer number of books. He may have become a fighter and powerful mage recently, but he would never have gotten there if it hadn't been for tomes such as these. Well, okay, the tomes he'd read had focused on magic and such. However, there was something to be said for a good book ( ... )

What was it about kids and this library? Still, if the kid was searching for the same sort of thing Linkara was, he wasn't about to stop him.

"Yeah. I think I got too many, though." He leaned back in his chair, glancing from the open encyclopedia - W, this time - to the kid who'd just showed up. "Too much history, not enough information on what we're dealing with here." He rubbed at his eyes; he didn't usually marathon this much reading all at once. Hopefully he wouldn't have to get used to it. "If you want to take a look, go ahead."

Negi smiled pleasantly, "I think you might have most of the books at this branch regarding the topic." He looked over at the various titles, many of them unfamiliar. These were from the mundane side of the world though. He wished he had more access to magical knowledge but Yue had said her book wasn't functioning correctly. For now this was his best bet unless he asked one of the other wizards/mages in this world what sort of materials they might have ( ... )

"Probably." Trying to be thorough might have just gotten Linkara in over his head. What he needed was either someone familiar with this version of Chicago or a good bookworm to help him narrow things down. He adjusted his glasses and flipped a page in the encyclopedia, looking at the second half of the article on the Wild Hunt. At least this one had some specifics to it. "What are you looking for, anyway?"

That explained why the kid looked so familiar. "Yeah, I think so. Linkara. Nice to meet you, Negi."

Wandering around a city was all well and good, but sometimes it was better to take a first hand look at things. Sure, he could have asked someone about the city, but that would involve finding the right person and the right time. Besides, the way he figured, no one had actually said reconnaissance had to be done by going out to talk to people.

A library was just as good at helping with somethings as people would have been, and if he looked a little out of place there, well. That wasn't his problem. Still, he couldn't really help but stop and take a look when he spotted someone all but elbow-deep in research.

"Taking enough of an interest in the supernatural, there?"

Linkara had about had it with the encyclopedias at this point and had moved on to the more specific books instead, skimming chapters in search of a mention of creatures with two sets of eyes. So far, he'd turned up exactly nothing. At this point, he was really starting to miss Wikipedia.

He looked up as the redhead approached, biting back a crack about walking straight out of an anime - odds were this guy actually had. "Yeah, I figured I'd better know what's out there before it tries to eat me," he replied casually.

Well, perhaps not quite an anime, but the general concept was the same, not that Axel was aware of it. So far 'being fictional' was just something that happened to other people - or one other person, but where there was one there had to be another. Even if it wasn't exactly going to happen here.

"I'm guessing we've got some things trying?"

He hadn't seen any Heartless, but that didn't mean that there weren't any here. They were wonderful at hiding in the shadows.

That got Linkara's attention. His eyes jerked up from his book and back to the redhead. "Oh, you weren't here for the vampires, or the faeries, or the Wild Hunt. You must be new in town." Ten to one odds the guy was going to think he was nuts after that.
