Sep 13, 2010 21:25

Characters: Linkara, anybody else who wants to join in
Time: A few days after the Edward Cullen thieves return and after rumors of new creatures in the city start circulating...and afternoon.
Location: Chicago Public Library
Content: With all this crazy supernatural stuff going down, Linkara figures he needs to know what's going on. With the internet down, that leaves one option: the old fashioned way.
Format: Starting in prose, completely cool with switching to action

Aside from the phones they'd been given, the internet was down. Linkara had done enough tinkering to know that. This put a pretty big cramp in his usual MO - if he ever needed information on something, he'd usually just hit up Wiki. With that option completely out of the picture, he'd defaulted to the good old-fashioned version: the library. He needed information on supernatural creatures - he'd gotten a lot on vampires, part of it firsthand, but he still needed more on fae and the Wild Hunt or whatever that mob on Halloween had been called. There were also rumors about other creepy things showing up with two sets of eyes. That sounded promising, if by "promising" you meant "really, really bad." At this point, he figured there was something to that saying about knowledge being power, and he'd rather know what was going on than be caught by surprise and nearly eaten again.

He'd staked out a table, which was currently littered with books. Several different volumes from several different encyclopedias were open to relevant sections - V, F, and W, respectively. At the end of the table, three short stacks of books on everything from Celtic legend to demonology to pagan rituals sat waiting. At least they weren't charging for the photocopier, and the notes function on his phone was working just fine.

There weren't many times Linkara truly felt like a nerd. This, however, was certainly one of them.
