I have just added a "new" paper to the ScribblerWorks website, one I gave at Mythcon 28 in 1997. "The People of the Lie in the City: Spiritual Development in All Hallow's Eve" uses a descriptive methodology found in the works of M. Scott Peck. It's always an adventure when a trip sneaks up on me. Suddenly the hours shorten, seeming to go by much faster than they would on other days. Suddenly I realize that half the wardrobe I meant to take on the trip still needs to be laundered, and I wonder why I didn't get to it last week.

I've said several times that my "In Praise of Friends" entries had been prompted by the death of Mythopoeic Society friend Alexei Kondratiev.  Reading all the wonderful things that were said about him made me sad that they had not been said when he was alive to read them.  I wanted my friends to read my appreciation of them while they were alive to ( Read more... )

The Mythopoeic Society has given me a lot of my friends.  And I am always thankful for that.  The atmosphere of Mythcon itself makes for very comfortable discussions about books, about the Inklings and other fantasy works.  Because everyone takes the ideas seriously, no one really cares what someone's "day-job" is, if they can hold their own in the ( Read more... )
