but Germaine wanted to make cupcakes. I dyed them pink and helped her decorate them with pink, purple, and red sprinkles. Linus helped too, then I licked the batter off the sprinkle container :P
I had bought the kids a book about valentine's day, that talks about St. Valentine.. so I read them that while the cupcakes baked.
chris stopped at the store after work to buy laundry detergent. he ended also buying two bouquets: a dozen yellow roses for me, and a mixed flower bouquet for Germaine. he pulled one flower from Germaine's and gave it to Linus. all of them ended up in one vase anyway :)
I made a big deal of letting Germaine give Chris a cupcake when he got home. especially since he bought her flowers. later we took a walk in the snow. the plows left a huge, 7-foot hill of snow at the end of our block. the kids wanted to play in it..
I have a bit of a sore throat so I told him not to get any junk food while he was at the store. we'd normally take advantage of the day-after candy sales, but I think we'll skip that this year. or this holiday, anyway. hopefully I won't be sick the day after Easter...
we decided to cheese it up at dinnertime, and dimmed the lights and put out candles. pillars, not tapers. even though it was the 4 5 of us and not just the two of us. Linus spent the whole meal tryng to blow out the candles.
ohhh yeah, and Linus decided to be festive by coloring his face with a pink marker. I gave it to him with some paper to keep him occupied while I gave him a haircut* but apparently I was so busy trying not to screw up his hair that I didn't notice him coloring his eyes. looked like the eyeshadow from hell. on my little boy!
*I kind of think I screwed it up quite a bit, but on the plus side, hopefully he looks masculine enough now that people will stop telling me how cute "she" is...
