Using Diana Pavlac Glyer's new book on how the Inklings worked as a group, I wanted to talk about writers' groups and process and maybe get some discussion going.

Two links got me thinking this morning. First, Sirens has put out its call for programming ideas, the theme this year being Monsters and women in fantasy. Not much to say about the fiction--as always, a nod for some things and a huh? for others. But one thing that really pleased me was seeing The Company They Keep: C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. picked up Diana Glyer's The Company They Keep: C.S. Lewis and JRR Tolkien as Writers in Community, knowing that this is a book I will be happy to read piecemeal. Early on she takes to task Inklings scholars who insist, sometimes quoting from letters or diaries, that the Inklings, who met informally for nearly twenty years, had no effect on one ( Read more... )
