Not much to say about the fiction--as always, a nod for some things and a huh? for others. But one thing that really pleased me was seeing
The Company They Keep: C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien as Writers in Community by Diana Glyer; appendix by David Bratman (Kent State University Press) on that list.
Anyone who likes Tolkien, Lewis, or Williams, or stories about writers in community and how they interact--not just in person but chase one another through essays and fiction and academic papers--should give this book a try. I was rereading it again just a couple weeks ago, and noticing yet again how thoroughly enjoyable it is. Anyway, I hope that anyone who happens to get to go to Worldcon and thus can vote in the Hugos will also take note.
Edited to add:
more about the book.
