I had my 16 week check-up today and everything seems to be right on track. I was actually a little surprised by how short the appointment ended up being:  just blood pressure and weight, a few minutes of questions with the midwife, measuring my uterus, and then listening to the baby’s heartbeat. It was really hard to hear the heartbeat at my ( Read more... )

I am so excited that I don't have to buy maternity pants yet.  After several recommendations, I decided to try out the Be Band, which claims that you can wear it over your normal pants (but leaving them unbuttoned and/or unzipped).  This thing is amazing!  And I am so much more comfortable than in increasingly tighter-fitting non-maternity pants.

I’m out of my first trimester now and I have discovered that there are some pretty good things about being pregnant. And then there are a few things I could do without.

Good things:

1. Guilt-free naps and utter laziness

2. Now actually having permission to look at and/or buy cute little teeny-tiny baby things

3. How much I already love this baby

We’re going to have a baby!

I’m just over 12 weeks along right now and my due date is Oct. 31. I’ve had a pretty good first trimester - no real sickness (but plenty of queasy moments). Mostly, I’m just exhausted.  And excited, of course :)

So last night was my first ultrasound. I wasn’t really expecting to see much - I’ve heard that it can’t really pick up anything earlier than 5 weeks. But we wanted to give it a shot because it could at least help to narrow down a due date.
