Oh thank heavens Mr Wol is home now. They decided they would monitor his thyroid from outpatients and his GP. With luck - and it seems to make sense - the thyroid is just dumping extra hormone into his system as a result of the disturbance of the glands during surgery and it should right itself in time. Mr Wol still ensconced in hospital. His calcium levels seem to be back to normal but now his thyroid is acting up. Define 'acting up'? Wish someone would. i am feeling very cut off from information here. At least mushrooms get fed shit. i am just plain in the damned dark!!!

Well that's me going totally crazy! Pity there is nobody around to watch. Mr Wol's consultant saw him this morning, early, well before 9, who expressed annoyance that he still had a drain in after nearly 48 hours and said he would be going home as soon as the drain was removed. Well Mr Wol had his operation this morning and came out of theatre rather later than scheduled but apparently none the worse for that. I have spoken to him a few times on the phone and he is making progressively more sense each call even if his poor voice suddenly sounds very Leonard Cohen in depth and raspiness. Mr wol is tucked up in his hospital bed and waiting for tomorrow's parathyroidectomy. Only 6 months ago he had never realised he had parathyroids let alone a need to have any of them ectomied.
