Happy anniversary!!!

Today was not just DD's first day at creche, it was mylescorcoran's and my 7th wedding anniversary. I missed the impact of this due to obsessing over creche issues. Mr Wol though did me proud. He presented me with a CD of a load of my favourite songs and some new ones. We listened to it in the car going to and from college. When I got to Peter Gabriel's version of 'The Book of Love' I teared up to the extent of becoming a traffic hazard. The lyrics are just great:

The Book of Love is long and boring
And no-one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures
And instructions for dancing
But I love it when you read to me
And you can read me anything!

How's that for hitting the twin buttons of sappy romantic and bibliophile at the same time?!! He's great my husband!!

1 - Sting and Cheb Mami - 'Desert Rose'
2 - Foo Fighters - 'Learn to Fly'
3 - Roxy Music - 'More Than This'
4 - The Jam - 'Going Underground'
5 - Erasure - 'Oh L'Amour (acoustic)'
6 - Annie Lennox - 'Into the West'
7 - Bjork - 'All Is Full Of Love'
8 - Midge Ure - 'Breathe'
9 - Peter Gabriel - 'The Book of Love'
10 - The Undertones - 'Teenage Kicks'
11 - The Cure - 'Friday I'm in Love'
12 - Michael Nyman - 'Outside Looking In'
13 - The Divine Comedy - 'Timestretched'
14 - tori Amos - 'A Sorta Fairytale'

Key
1 = possibly my all time favourite song
2 = possibly my all time favourite video
3 = gotta have a Bryan Ferry number (Myles lent me much Roxy Music music before we were an item) and this one is a fairly positive relationship
4 = possibly Rowan's all time favourite song - heard it a lot in the womb while I was in hospital
5 = Erasure make me smile and this version is good stuff
6 = One of my three wishes would probably be being able to sing like Annie Lennox in her prime and this is a real vocal showcase
7 = Myles loves Bjork; I love Myles
8 = possibly my all time favourite song, Hell yeah this is it, one of the most under-rated, under-listened to songs in history
9 = romantic and intense and sappy - either trancendental or really dumb or both
10 = as newlyweds we spent our Sunday wake-ups listening to 'Home Truths' with John Peel and this one is for him and in honour of stories about snails, Hailie Selassie(sic) and going 'urrrr'
11 = my favourite Cure song, Goth fluff
12 = from 'Carrington' I think and that was an important movie for Myles and I
13 = Neil Hannon also has made a mark on/in our relationship and was a shared feature of our time apart with Myles is Paris and me in Cork, busy being academics
14 = haven't got this far yet and don't recognize the title - I'll get back to you
Bonus = track played at our wedding which caused comedian Ross Noble (dragged along as guest-for-the-dancing by legit guest Ed Byrne) to comment 'they seem awfully emm-phatick don't they?' in his peculiar, laconic delivery at the sight of all these bourgeois prats in semi-formal pogo-ing round the dancefloor yelling 'Fuck you, I won't do as you tell me!'. Is it any wonder the older folks headed to the in-laws for supper rather than hanging round for the dancing?

cdgift, myles, anniversary
