He turned the grin to the girl, the slight uncertainty of the expression suggesting that he's not totally confident around other people. "It's just plain stuff, pancakes, burgers, poutin."
"Just plain stuff," he said, his forehead creasing slightly as his shyness tried to rear its ugly head. "Pancakes, burgers, poutin, homemade ice cream."

"Good food is always good. It wouldn't be good food otherwise." She smirks a bit. "You're going to get a lot of customers, what with all the starved-looking Japanese boys who wander through."
Seven-year-old human girl wandering by; looks normal, except her shadow is shifting and stretching in ways it shouldn't. 'Where's the edge of nowhere~? Is it in the Nexus?'
"There's something that keeps out demons, undead, and makes magic not work." He turned his attention from the shadow to the little girl that it was attached to.
She lifts her head and smiles; realizing that she's rather hungry. Her fingers travel to the deep pocket in her robe and she pulls out a few dollars.
"Excuse me," she says politely, meeting the man's eyes with a cheerful smile hidden behind a veil (although the smile is writ in her eyes). "What is your diner's policy... on pork?"
She was learning more and more about cultures that weren't her own. But pork was out of the question.
