She lifts her head and smiles; realizing that she's rather hungry. Her fingers travel to the deep pocket in her robe and she pulls out a few dollars.

"Excuse me," she says politely, meeting the man's eyes with a cheerful smile hidden behind a veil (although the smile is writ in her eyes). "What is your diner's policy... on pork?"

She was learning more and more about cultures that weren't her own. But pork was out of the question.

His eyebrows rose slightly in uncertainty. "Well, I don't usually have any. But we serve dinosaur, and chicken."

[sooraya]

Another smile. "Chicken sounds rather appetizing. But dinosaur? Where is this diner?"

Sooraya isn't quite used to the multiverse yet.

"On the edge of nowhere." He smiled himself, the expression apologetic and reassuring.

[sooraya]

She shook her head slightly.

"Could you -" A slight hesitation. "Could you take me there?"

"Uh, sure." He looked around, then walked over and grabbed one of those PINpoint things that Charlie had told him about.

"Here, just let me put the coordinates in...." He stopped halfway back, face intent and hair falling into his eyes as he worked.

Sooraya worried at her lip, wondering about Fred's apparent state of bafflement.

"Um...."

[poppies_place]

"Hmm?" He cocked his head to look at her questioningly.

[sooraya]

"If this is a problem," she said, "I can stay here."

[poppies_place]

"No problem." He blinked mildly. "I just thought you'd like it better if I didn't have to touch you to bring you along. And these things are handy."

[sooraya]

She blinked.

"Okay," she said, nodding to herself more than him. "Let's go, I suppose."

He wondered if he'd done something dumb, but offered her the wristwatch style PINpoint. "Just press that button."
