Day 28 → This year, in great detail

I remember New Year's quite distinctly. It was freakishly warm, for one thing. Light jacket temperatures and zero snow. grav_ity was on her last day of her holiday visiting. We went to my Aunt's and a bunch of us had a really amazing time doing a scavenger hunt. When we got home finally, Kate and I were worried about sleeping through the alarm, so we watched about half of Season 1 of Community to stay awake until I drove her to the airport. It was raining. I was sad. Dropped her off, drove home again, crashed. Woke up for the annual Belgian Waffle party at our house.

The following will be a combination of what major events I remember as the most significant plus random stuff I'm remembering by going through LJ entries.
  • The Cape ended up being a huge disappointment
  • Experienced my first "true" year-end close as an accountant. It was extremely stressful, but I learned a whole lot.
  • Tangled lost Best Original Song in both the Golden Globes and the Oscars, first to Diane Warren and then to Randy Newman. I was a very angry fangirl.
  • Made two new fanvids back-to-back: Setting up the Pins and Not Done Yet
  • Got Lucy and Toby at the Humane Society and finally became an old cat lady!!!
  • Had a lot of family drama
  • Threw a party to celebrate the DvD release of Tangled and it was SO FUN!!!
  • Had a chance to got to China for work that didn't pan out :-(
  • Started a book blog and a costuming blog
  • Took a writing sabbatical
  • Auditioned for The Sound of Music and won the role of Elsa (Darth) Schraeder.
  • Planned on going to Indiana over Easter and it didn't work out
  • Signed up for my first big bang fic challenge
  • Got a promotion into a new dept at Goodyear
  • Finally made that Twilight mocking fanvid I've been talking about for years to His Cheeseburger from Veggie Tales.
  • Laura and family moved to Tennessee
  • Bought an iPad 2 and named it Hardison. Really need to use it more to get my money's worth...
  • Spent a lot of time making a Rapunzel costume
  • Went to Paris. It rained. Had a lot of fun and a not lot of fun.
  • Kate came to see me for my birthday and made me a T.A.R.D.I.S. cake!!!
  • Turned 30...
  • Went to Dragon*Con. Had a lot of fun and a lot of not fun.
  • Got a new plot bunny that is now in my "things to get published" writing queue
  • Borders went out of business. With it, part of my writing soul died.
  • Decided to treat writing as part of God's plan for my life
  • Finished writing my first big bang fanfic challenge :-)
  • Celebrated the re-release of my first novel, which hopefully means the SECOND novel is coming out soon...
And that pretty much catches us up to the present. Wow, a lot of fun stuff has happened so far this year! This was fun. :-)
