Damn my trainwreck syndrome

Sep 23, 2007 19:12

Any time I get curious and check a pro-ana site, I end up spending at least twenty minutes skimming the damn thing. I went back two days, just to see if anyone mentioned Yom Kippur (hey, I fasted too! XD But by the end of the day I was just like "okay, it's over, feed me now", so...) No one did, BTW.

In any case, it made me so twitchy that I'm posting some fatspiration (thanks to the guys over on JF, who spammed me with names of hot fat chicks.)

Reminder: There will be some nudity/girls not wearing much. NSFW!

Let's kick things off right with some Marilyn!

Now, all things considered, Marilyn wasn't fat exactly, but you don't get that sort of rack and tuchus without some meat on your bones.

And let's match up that icon of icons with one of the current hot stars of the fashion world, Crystal Renn! Like Kate Dillon, Renn's another anorexic-to-plus-size-model story-- Ms Renn is size 14, I believe, but was, when she was first scouted, told to lose about 40% of her body weight at the time.

Beneath the cut you will see her with Jean-Paul Gaultier, in a Vogue editorial shoot, and a Dolce & Gabbana ad-- all within the past three years, and all from after she regained the 50 pounds her agency insisted she lose when she was originally scouted.

The above-the-cut photo? Why, Ms Renn walking in Elena Miro's S/S '08 Milan fashion show, of course. (This reminds of an argument I got into on topmodel a while back about how no one would want to see a larger woman "galumphing" down the runway. Ha.)

(The Dolce&Gabbana ad-- apparently they also did a retouched version, where she looks skinnier... but it's the thought that counts, and the original still exists.)

(A photo shoot in Glamour)

(Walking in a Gaultier show)

(And again, with the designer himself)

(In the Russian Harper's Bazaar, with a striaght-size model)

(Harper's Bazaar again)

(A Vogue shoot)

(Another from that shoot)

(No idea but I like it...)
