I swear to god, my YA lit class is making me feel young. I'm sitting here going "New media? Blogs are new media? Am I just so young that I barely remember a time when the internet didn't exist? iPod are new media? Kids should take classes on social networking because it can be dangerous and they don't know how to protect themselves from online predators? But, but..."
Also, dear classmates, the library's job is not to "protect" YA patrons from the dangerous aspects of social networking-- it's to use the positive aspects of social networking to become a part of YAs' lives (... in the best case scenario, anyway.)
