Today was a professional development day. This meant two things:

1. having to work on Saturday
2. gaining new knowledge and skills that benefit me as a teacher

And so another break comes to a close and, cue the sigh here, I've done pretty much nothing of any note for three weeks besides hang with Koda and a ferret,  bike around some, read, update the blog, and catch up with my marking. Today was a half day at school and another family day. I like the idea of family days, of having the student have the chance to participate in fun activities with their parents along for the ride, although likely it would be a lot better if cell phones could be banned while going through the day's events but I understand that, hey, parents still ( Read more... )

So, it was the one hundredth day at school on Monday. That morning, it was basically a fun-filled game morning: the English teachers ran stations that each had a 100 theme (build a chain of 100 paper links, decorate boxes to build a tower of 100 boxes, create a 100th day celebratory hat, count various collections of 100 items, etc.) and Chinese ( Read more... )

Yesterday was PJ Day at school. It was pretty fun...in the sense that kiddies just wore their pyjamas to school. Just before lunch there was a House Team activity; basically all the kids in the whole school are divided into three groups - Red, Blue, and Green -  and on special days the whole school gathers to play some sort of cooperative game.
