It seems like it has been a busy week this week, but we've got loads done :)
On Wednesday I went to the opticians, for the first time in 8 years (I hadn't realised it had been quite that long...!). Naturally I got told off for leaving it so long, but the optician said that my eyes are fine and healthy. My prescription has changed, but only slightly, and I'm still totally legal to drive in my current contact lenses. However, she recommended I have some new lenses, as 8 years is quite long enough to be wearing one pair. So I've done that, and hopefully will be able to pick those up in the next 10 days or so. I might treat myself to some new glasses at some point in the future, but we can't afford to get both at the same time.
On Thursday I got home to find John had bought a new light fitting for the dining room, and had successfully fitted it himself (yes, he'd turned the lighting main off, taken the old fitting and ceiling rose down, and installed the new one, all on his own! He really is quite practical when he puts his mid to it.
Thursday night we went down to see the Oatleys again, which was lovely. We took stuff to cook with, and John produced a very nice Chicken Korma for dinner. Rebecca is still as beautiful as ever, and Claire is still looking relaxed and happy. I got to watch her bath Rebecca whilst John cooked. Claire had been bad and not left me any washing up to do, so I had to console myself with just washing up the stuff that we dirtied for dinner. And I cleaned her hob as well :) It was a lovely relaxing evening, and I think we all enjoyed it.
Friday the man came out to fit our curtains in the lounge and the dining room. This means that the lounge is now finished (yay!), and the dining room is just waiting for the carpet to be fitted (Tuesday) before we can move all our computers down there (Tuesday night I think!).
On Friday night we went to have a look around a couple of local gyms, to see what facilities they had, how much they cost, and whether we'd actully use them or not. Both were OK, I preferred Bannatyne's to Total Fitness, but both were very expensive (£75 - £80 per month, and you have to take 12 months initially). I'm sure if we joined we would use them, at least initially, but whether we'd get our full money's worth, and whether we'd keep going for a year I am not so sure about. We want to find something we can do regularly that will help John get fit for his Inca Trail expedition, but I'm not sure joining a gym is right for us. We're still thinking about this one.
This weekend we have Chris and Justine coming to stay, so I'm trying to think what we need to do to "toddler-proof" the house. It's going to be tricky as we still have most of the contents of the lounge and dining room in piles under the stairs. Ho hum!
