Busy Weekend
I feel like we've achieved loads this weekend, now I just need to see if I can remember it all! :)
Saturday morning I got up early, and pottered about town, picking up odd bits that we needed for the weekend. I checked out our new Aldi, but it was very crowded, and the aisles were not qide enough for two trolleys to pass side-by-side, so I decided if I wanted cheap stuff I'd rather go to Makro, and headed off to Waitrose instead. Started off for home, then remembered I hadn't bought a gift for my cousin, whose girlfriend gave birth to their little baby girl on Friday night, so had to head back into town for baby wear and card.
Got home, helped John finish off the tidying of lounge and dining room, and we'd just sat down for our lunch when Chris and Justine arrived with Jamie.
We'd bought a book for Jamie whilst we were away in Wales - a collection of Cat in the Hat jigsaws and stickers, and that kept him quiet whilst we finished our lunches. We then took them over to Ruth and Richard's, as Ruth is still not able to leave the house. Jamie was a bit nervous of Barky to begin with, but made friends quickly. John tried to sneak onto Ruth's computer whilst we were there, but Jamie spotted him, and they spent the next hour there together, playing on the CBeebies website :)
Got back home, John's Mum came over, chatted and played with Jamie until he went off to bed about 7.30. Ordered Indian, and sat at our dining table (which is getting SO much more use since we moved it!) chatting and eating until late. I flumped into bed as soon as John's Mum left.
Sunday morning, Jamie was awake about 6.30. This was more normal for me than for John, who made a valient effort to get up and look cheery! More playing with Jamie (he remembered John's drum kit, and had a lovely time hitting things), then Chris helped John move the arcade machine upstairs to get it out of the dining room ready for the carpet to be fitted. The Morrisseys headed off about 11am. We then went out to the dump to get rid of our pile of rubbish, dropped in at the car wash to get my car clean, then popped in to Ruth's to collect some paint. Ruth was not too good, and having a day in bed, so we took her a cup of tea up and chatted for a bit before heading off.
Got home, John painted the ceiling in the dining room where he has fitted the new light whilst I phoned Mum and caught up with all her news. We then went out to Wheelock Hall Farm Shop, which a work colleague had told me had expanded a lot. We had a late lunch in their tea shop (sausage, mash and onion gravy - not very Atkins, but lovely!), looked around their shop, and then scouted out the children's play area and animal petting. This will definitely be a good place to bring any kids that come to stay with us - plenty to keep them busy whilst the adults sit and drink tea :)
Got home, did some work for my Dad's website, then John discovered he'd got a major hard disk corruption on the disk that has all his photos on. So we then spent a lot of time backing up what we could. Luckily he still had most of his pictures on his old PC, but he's still lost quite a lot of recent stuff he was quite upset about. We left CHKDSK running whilst we had tea and watched some TV. Then we came across "Speed" on Sky Movies, and got drawn into watching most of that!
After this busy weekend I was very tired, so headed off to bed for an early night.
