Best birthday, EVER!!!

So, I got hit by the big 4-0 last Sunday. 40 years sounds like a long time - but sometimes I feel I'm still waiting for my life to get going :D

As well as being a significant birthday, and the best I've had for many a year, it has also been the longest. It began last Friday (6 May) when I walked into work to find my desk covered in banners and balloons and weighed down by three gift bags and a cake! The day itself was just fab - in the morning I got to talk about me at church as part of our current series on personal journies through faith and in the afternoon Janet and Mum and Alan came and helped us munch through loads of food. Tuesday, I went shopping for my shiny new DSi (of which more in a moment) and yesterday I got ANOTHER card from work signed by a group that I've been doing minutes for for years but that I'm leaving after the next meeting.

I've been really touched by the love and good feelings I've got from family, friends and colleagues. I'm not surprised as such - and yet I am. It's just been a really, really good week.

Work isn't so good - but I'm going to park that for now. I may rant in my next post.

I also got a free birthday reading from tarot.com which talked alot about opportunities and not rushing to choose a path. I can feel the opportunities out there... somewhere. I just know good things are coming, one way or another.

And now to my DSi. It's a black Pokemon version, which was £20 cheaper than the plain one AND came with the game, which Luke had been talking about. I don't think he really gets it, yet, though :D He does like Mario, though! I have 'Professor Layton and the Curious Village', 'Brain Training', 'Hotel Dusk' and 'FF12: Revenant Wings'. I'm loving Prof Layton and I'm doing a bit of brain training every morning. Soon, I will be the genius I've always thought I was!

I also found a Doctor Who carry case with... wait for it... a Sonic Screwdriver stylus! The geek in me fell instantly in love when I saw it. Yesterday, I invested in a crystal case, some funky stickers and a set of screen protectors. And my DSi system is complete.

I also have news on the writing front but right now I need to have my bath.

Bye for now, LJ!

being 40 - how did that happen again?, family, work, love, geekiness, dsi, birthday, gaming, life
