Got Some Reading Done

Mar 21, 2012 17:48

► I'm continuing to slowly feel better and more solidly on my feet with each day, although I had a really bad dizzy spell yesterday around noon and opted to spend the rest of the day and night in bed reading. Finally managed to finish a few tradepaperbacks that have been sitting unfinished on my bookcase headboard along the side of my bed for a long time.

Oddly, vertigo doesn't seem to be my main problem today. Instead I find I've been feeling incredibly foggy headed. Maybe it's the sudden warm and muggy weather, coupled with all the reading over the past two days. Maybe.

This have been pretty good in regards to my art collection. My two Howard M. Shum commissions arrived in the mail yesterday, and today I received an email from my friend SatyQ saying he mailed my sketches two weeks ago. I should be getting those in the next couple of days if not early next week. Really looking forward to that!

► From chat (a month ago, but I just remembered it, and it's still appropriate):Derek: watching a Dick Cavett interview with Michael Palin from 1981, in his intro Cavett says that Palin has a new movie opening out, Time Bandits, "one of the few films these days which is not a remake"
Matt: :-P
Matt: Not even what we're bitching about is new
Derek: nope
Paramount Reinventing Mark Twain with 'Huck' (Exclusive) - From the article:The storyline is being kept under wraps, but the project is described as a re-imagining in the vein of Snow White and the Huntsman, focusing on Sawyer and Finn as adults. There also are supernatural elements to the script.
I'm sure it'll maintain the integrity of Mark Twain's original novels. You know, with monsters.

Michael Bay Responds to Fans' Outrage Over Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Alien Announcement - Why do I hear South Park's Cartman saying "whatevah, I do what I want!" in my head? Granted the idea of making the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles aliens is patently idiotic since their name pointedly says "mutant", but I'm more frustrated that we'll have to put up with a whole new cycle of fan hyperbole about raped childhoods. Christ.

Doctor Who Casts New Companion: Find Out When She'll Arrive - From chat:Derek: so they announced the next Doctor Who companion, shocking that it's going to be another 20something girl from Modern England
Kai: oh yeah. real shocker
Derek: just be nice if they mixed things up a bit
Kai: They used to.
Kai: I love Rory, it'd be nice if he had a male companion for once.
Derek: like when they'd give us an alien character or someone from another time era or country, or heck a guy
Kai: He used to have male companions before but these days have to have romantic tension
Derek: right
Derek: which gets tiresome
Derek: I'd like to see the Doctor with a male companion in a sort of buddy adventure
