Dizzying Deliveries

Mar 09, 2012 11:31

► The morning started off so great I guess I was due to have a bad vertigo spell and a panic attack. I keep drinking lots of water to help the effects of the dizziness or inner ear infection (if I have one), but so far all that's happening is I keep having to go to the washroom.

► Hey, let's list all the stuff I got today!► When I woke up this morning at 8:15am I went to the front door and was surprised to find a package. It was my Ms. Marvel Eaglemoss lead figurine. The reason I was surprised is that it was only shipped this past Monday, from England. I wasn't expecting it until next Monday, let alone in 4 days.

► A little after 11:00am I happened to go to the front door again and found another package waiting for me (I don't know why they weren't delivered by the same truck). This time it was my Ginny Weasley action figure which I bought on Ebay from a seller in France last week (it was shipped last Friday). I have to admit I was a bit surprised and slightly disappointed when I opened the box. For the past 3 years I've been trying to get the Ginny figure for the NECA 6" Harry Potter line but it's usually ridiculously over priced. I was shocked and happy when I found and bought this last week, but as it turns out the figure is for a 3.75" figure line that I wasn't aware of. So I guess the hunt for the 6" Ginny figure continues.

► In the regular mail I had another surprise from England, my Red Sonja sketchcard by Wynn Ryder that I bought and won on Ebay last Sunday. Again it shipped on Monday and I wasn't expecting it in only 4 days.

With all this stuff showing up from Europe so quickly, I'm really wondering what the hell is going on with that adult DVD I bought from a California based Ebay store 2 weeks ago. It was mailed February 27th, would have thought that would be enough time to get here.

► In addition to the stuff that physically arrived today, I also received an email from a professional comic book artist named Howard M. Shum that I had commissioned. I was able to win 2 of his commission auctions on Ebay for $10 each (shockingly low to me). The first auction was for a coloured drawing in which I requested Medusa and asked for it to be personalized. The second auction was for a black and white drawing and I asked for "Christopher Reeve Superman" (I had forgotten to ask for it to be personalized but I think he's going to add it before he mails them out tomorrow. I'm really happy with how the drawings came out, especially the Superman.

Dizziness aside, today has been a good day.

Slashdot: Last Chance To Stop SOPA From Coming To Canada - Democracies seem to exist just long enough to have their ideals twisted with censorship, control and "security".

Review: Dim-Witted Edgar Allan Poe Thriller 'The Raven' Is Too Boring To Be A Guilty Pleasure - Well he didn't care for it at all! Wow. And to think I was really looking forward to this movie when it was first announced. Ah, well.

5 Movies Us Nerds Painfully Underrate - Hey, I've never underrated Hulk. I've been standing up for that movie since it was first released.

The Smoking Gun: Middle School Teacher Is Placed On Leave After Students Discover Her Porn Past - Hell of a lot of high horse climbing from the website and school administrators. Just what the hell are middle school kids doing on porn sites? Hey, instead of parenting our kids lets fire (which is looking likely) a qualified and dedicated teacher for something she did almost a decade ago to pay for her teaching degree and which isn't even illegal.Derek: bottom of the article, nice to see the director of the clips exploiting the destruction of her life and livelihood in order to promote his websites
Matt: Yep
...with TheSmokingGun eager to assist him. Lot of scummy people involved in this story, and I don't think the teacher is one of them.

Quote of the Moment

Dr. Donna Burke: We, the board members present, think that you should tender your resignation.
Alex Jurel: My resignation? What for?
Dr. Donna Burke: Because, Mr. Jurel, no one here wants to go through the pain of firing you.
