Labyrinth Isn't Weird Weird, It's Henson Weird

► Alas, the anxiety reprieve last night appears to have been short lived. Meh, I'll be better in a couple of days, and have forgotten all about this.

► There's a thread on a social network site I'm a member of for "weirdest movie you've seen". It seems like a lot of people must not see very many diverse films when Labyrinth is mentioned so often. Of course, I haven't exactly seen a lot of "strange cinema" either. The films I listed were Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man) and a few of Jean Rollin's weird 70s/80s French erotic horror films like Night of the Hunted, Living Dead Girl and Fascination (which I still need to get). No doubt I've seen other odd movies, but those were the ones that popped into my mind.

Another guy mentioned The Great Land of Small, and I had to agree that was a really weird film. Some how I've managed to see it 3 times on television over the past 15 years, and each time I wonder why the hell I'm watching it.

► Random thought: Is there a female equivalent to the term "douchebag"? With douchebag being defined (from UrbanDictionary) as:'An individual who has an over-inflated sense of self worth, compounded by a low level of intelligence, behaving ridiculously in front of colleagues with no sense of how moronic he appears.'
Just curious.

Sci-fi movie posters from an alternate universe - A large percentage of these seem to be "take random movie title, pick random actors and production members you've only heard about". That said, I want to live in the universe where Ghostbusters starred Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee fighting the supernatural from a hearse (with Woody Strode!), and where Masters of the Universe was an adult movie starring Boris Karloff as Skeletor and John Phillip Law as He-Man. I feel deprived that they don't really exist.

Although, instead of Bette Davis I'd have either Debra Paget, Hazel Court or Ingrid Pitt as the female lead in Ghostbusters.

Ha! I showed the link to a friend and he sent me a link to the original collection of the posters: Alternate Universe Posters Details Below

Joss Whedon Promises Black Widow “Will Not Be the Only Female Character” in THE AVENGERS - No Ms. Marvel? :-(

Actors We Miss: River Phoenix - Today would have been River Phoenix's 40 birthday. When Phoenix died I was in high school, starting grade 12 I think. While I had always liked him in the past (and grew up watching him in movies) I was surprised at how affected I was by his death. It's not that I had any breakdown moment or tears, but as a fan I felt there was a definite loss to film, losing such a talent so young. I mean, who can know what he would have gone on to do had he lived.

Quote of the Moment

Allie Fox: It's an absolute sin to accept the decadence of obsolescence. Why do things get worse and worse? They don't have to. They could get better and better. We accept that things fall apart.
