Mmmm, Pie
► Feeling much better today than I have for the past half week. The spiking anxiety, the sparking nerves, the oppressive depression and the niggling worries seemed to lead me to crash this morning. After hand washing nearly a week of dishes at 6:18am I collapsed in bed, exhausted and aching and slept for 10 hours. I think I really needed it.
► Hard to believe it's still mid August and mid summer. It's been raining all day and the temperature has dropped drastically, no doubt helped by the really strong winds. I've been wearing one of my fleece sweaters for the first time in months, and earlier even had to cover up at the computer with a blanket. Nice change of pace, although the humidity is making everything tacky and sticky.
► My favourite ads in the current issue of Vanity Fair magazine. There's a third shot of Julianne Moore, but I can't find a scan of it.
► North Korea reportedly joins Facebook - Suddenly North Korea sounds less like a frighteningly dangerous nuclear capable powerhouse, and more like an obnoxious 14 year old "mean girl" badmouthing her rivals online. "OMG like LOSER!!!!111"KimF: When the real news reads like The Onion something is terribly wrong with the world.
► B.C.: Bears prowling pot fields could face death - And yet Seth Rogen* is allowed to roam freely.
* He's from Vancouver.
► "Peter Pan" Connection to 75-Year-Old Mystery of Mummified Fetuses Found In California? - Well obviously James Barrie was performing illegal alleyway abortions and created Neverland as a way to deal with the guilt by giving the spirits of the dead fetuses an eternal home. Obviously.*
* I've already seen this suggestion made.
► Badass of the Week: Galvarino - His hands were swords. It doesn't get more badass than that, unless there's someone in history who had machine gun hands.
► STAR WARS Scents: Slave Leia Perfume and Eau Lando Cologne on Sale Now - Has to be better than con funk, right? Not that I know from personal experience.
► Ensign Sue Must Die! - A 25 page Star Trek webcomic about the new crew of the Enterprise dealing with one of the most disruptive forces in the universe: Mary Sue. Read it, it's delightfully silly and cute.
► 1987 Marvel Comics Parade Float - All those heroes with all those powers and the only one who can accomplish anything is Captain America.
