Last night, after a grand total of 26 hours so far, I finished the second draft of The Sword of Arkatyr.Replacing the lousy intro with a real first chapter doubled its length. The book now has one more chapter and runs to 78,897 words. So it's a little longer but it's got a real intro now ( Read more... )

I did it. I'm in spitting distance of validating, with a shot at maybe even getting the 80k that I was shooting for. Tomorrow/today is an art day, but I need to sleep. I'm tired and I hurt but I got so far with it that I know I'm going to get that winner certificate ( Read more... )

Any time I do a very long art project, something that took a lot of rumination, there's a long time in it when I hesitate to work on it. It's not clear in my mind yet. There's a hesitation, a fear of wrecking it completely by forcing it. Sometimes that fear comes true too, and my hesitating isn't all that I have low health days but that it's not ( Read more... )

Literally so close, I am now one chapter away at 77,078 words... and it is going to be roughly 80,000 words just as I planned. They just set off to ambush the bad guy for the final battle. All of the oracles and prophecies and things have been fulfilled, everyone's armored up and armed, and the novel that began with a cavalry charge is going to end ( Read more... )
