Last night, after a grand total of 26 hours so far, I finished the second draft of The Sword of Arkatyr.Replacing the lousy intro with a real first chapter doubled its length. I got up and spent all day immersed in the editing. It's been intense. I got through all of it, down to the old ending, clipped off the last paragraph and opened a new file for the final battle. I'm now shifting gears to writing that... and it's hard to shift gears. Especially when something turned in the weather and my back started going out again ( Read more... )

I've just spent five hours editing, solid. The first chapter is clean. I tightened that opening scene well, threw out about half the words by the time I was done. I just realized it... with my plan as it stands, the book will become available sometime during November, during NaNoWriMo, while I am working on its sequel. I see plenty of series potential in the book, because I set it up that way. Also, Ari Cat had his followup vet appointment today.
