I've been reading a lot of indy-published ebooks lately. Some time ago I downloaded The Worm Ouroboros to my kindle. I tried reading it 20-some-odd years ago and got maybe 50 pages in before I gave up. I tried to read the books, and only made it part-way through the first one. I've been watching the BBC mini-series today on DVD. I think I can safely say that I really do not like Gormenghast. I just finished reading The Time Machine.

Bummer, no sirens that make the Eloi shuffle off to the sphinx.  No talking rings.

But still, the 1960 movie is a much better adaptation than the 2002 version.

I have just finished reading the Sherlock Holmes stories. I like them, for the most part. However, the last collection, "The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes," sucked weasels. Now I can go back to watching the Jeremy Brett adaptations.

I just watched the 1968 animated adaptation of Asterix et Cleopatra, dubbed in English. Even though the original authors were involved, there were significant plot changes in the movie. There were 3 or 4 entire scenes that were changed between the book and the movie, as well as a couple of musical numbers that obviously weren't in the book.
