The last couple weeks have been a flurry of activity in which I feel like I'm working two full time jobs. Research is moving along in fits and starts, with pending travel that never quite eventuates, but deadlines that do. I’ve been at my job for 1 year next Monday. Today I had my (cursory) performance appraisal, and all feedback was positive. There was a slog in the middle, with December’s thyroid episode, the unwinding of my relationship with Will, and then the broken leg, where I wasn’t confident about my choice and doubted my ability to execute the role well ( Read more... )

Just had the awkward (mostly for him) experience of having my boss ask in a mixed group when my partner was coming back from the states. I said that we had decided to split and it was amicable, and tried moved the conversation on.

The amount of work I have in the pipeline scares me a bit, and I feel like I’m working around the edges with a teaspoon. I am in mental disarray, and feel like if I just took some time to get on top of stuff internally, I could re-centre. Last week, in spite of illness, I had 3 separate days of excitement and passion related to work. I can’t begin to tell you how awesome this is (though I’m trying).
