The Farmer's market is foodie church, and since we are coming up on a high holy day, the place was a zoo yesterday. On top of it all, it seemed as if a good number of vendors had jacked up their prices, much to my dismay. I was still able to talk some deals out of my favorite vendors, though. made me a mocha cheesecake topped with whipped cream and strawberries. They always make sure I have a great mother's day, even if I have to buy the groceries.
    Also, I made myself an omelet of fresh asparagus and crabmeat with hollandaise for brunch. I think this will be the new mother's day tradition. Next year with mimosas!

I skipped class today to hang at home with The Boy. I think I made the right call. As much as I miss The Girl, there are topics that we rarely discuss when she is around. Today it was just he and I, so we covered a good deal of Mature Topics.

Tonight for dinner I had home-made chicken noodle soup, made by The Girl.
     You do know she only just turned 10, right? She did it all by herself. I can't tell you how nice it is to come from a long day of school and commuting to Kid-made dinner that doesn't consist merely of hot dogs and box mac-n-cheese.

Making chocolate cake from scratch on a Friday night because nothing else would do for a certain Girl's 10th birthday clebration. I got The Girl a gift card for Build-a-Bear workshop for xmas, so today was the inevitable trip into post-holiday retail chaos. the nearest Build-a-Bear is in Disneyland, so it was bonus consumption mayhem. Today was the second (failed) attempt at The Girl walking to school alone. The first time was thwarted due to my own fears, the second time because of hers. Yesterday, we walked together as far as the bus stop at the end of the block. I got on the bus and she started walking to school.
