Okay, the day did not get off to a good start with a pretty big earthquake this morning at 5.30am (5.1). Reminded me way too much of September, in fact for a second I thought it was September and everything else had been a dream. We had a pretty severe aftershock this evening, 5.3 and it went on for ages, freaked me out majorly. Then, on top of my already frayed nerves, another big jolt about two hours later. Reports of power cuts, new damage, liquefaction and rock falls from the city but no one hurt so that's good ( Read more... )

I'm thinking of everyone in Japan right now. I can't believe the pictures I've seen on TV. I know a bit of what they're going though but of course, tsunamis are a whole other kind of hell. We've got a warning down here but I doubt it will come to anything where I live ( Read more... )

help_nz is a fandom auction to benefit the people in my city who weren't as lucky as me. Thousands of people have lost their homes and many are unable to work due to the city centre being closed down for rescue efforts and safety reasons- on the news they're telling us up to half the buildings will be coming down.
