I love LJ
help_nz is a fandom auction to benefit the people in my city who weren't as lucky as me. Thousands of people have lost their homes and many are unable to work due to the city centre being closed down for rescue efforts and safety reasons- on the news they're telling us up to half the buildings will be coming down. Hopefully most in a controlled way but there are fears aftershocks will be doing the job too- like this one which I often looked at from the window of my Dad's office (I always wanted to stay there- I always thought it would be cool to sleep in right the city for a night or two, be a tourist in my own town). I'm almost scared to see what the view over the city will be like when we are allowed back :(.
