Well.. got news that JET has upgraded all that they will from the initial "no" answers to accepting a short-listed position. I guess I will still hang around and see what happens. So this may be the way things are for now. An alternate with nowhere to go yet. The alternate ride has just begun though, so I will hang in there. I am not going to put my life on hold though. Why am I plagued so? I had another dream that I was going into JET last night. I pretty much convinced myself that if I don't get upgraded this upcoming week, my chances go waaay down. I just got my FBI background check back, or what I think is the background check because I am supposed to send it sealed to the JET office. I sent an email to the contact in the Boston consulate asking if I should keep it and only send it to them if I get upgraded ( Read more... )

Once again my fate in Japan is out of my hands for now. I sent in everything I needed to accept being an alternate. Sent an IRS residency form and a background check to the FBI. I feel relieved I have the next stage of stuff done. Now it is yet to be seen if my work will actually pay off ( Read more... )

Although I am an alternate, I still have to go through most of the pre-departure hoops. Yesterday got the reply form to send back by the end of the month. I also got instructions on going about getting an FBI background check and filling out an IRS form. Well.. now that I have had a couple days to think over the prospect of being an alternate ALT. I will ride it out and see if it goes anywhere. Waiting for results on JET. I know it will come some time this week. I understand people being anxious but I have been trolling the JET forums and people are calling the consulates and such. I think that is a little extreme. They should nix people for being so impatient because obviously they want to be on JET so badly that I think it clouds ( Read more... )

Hopefully all this waiting will pay off. I feel confident that I have the skills to manage quite well in JET. I am starting to feel that I really need a change in my job.
