The RV Network [SPLODEY PLOT]

Oct 14, 2006 22:29

Compared to some of the other areas in the city, the attack on the Network was almost anticlimactic. Viruses of every shape and description simply hit the major node-servers, both public and private ( Read more... )

Naturally, this attracted the attention of at least one of the Darkloids.

BeastMan came upon the chaos during one of his patrols, he was nowhere near the Darkloid's headquarters, which was buried deep in the Network. Nevertheless, he sent a signal back, alerting them to the incident, and requesting that Laserman advise him on their group's course of action.

His claws twitched, as the viral army played out their drama. They would soon be upon him. He had been sent to scout... so he would scout. If they attacked him, so be it.

He almost ran towards the army eagerly.

Copy bounded through the Network, no longer cheerful or playful. There was a viral invasion and people were in danger. Ever since it had started, he had been working almost frantically to help evactuate other Navis. When he saw a Beastman running straight for the virus army, Copy yelped and began waving his arms wildly to catch his attention.

"Sir! Sir! Don't go in that direction! There's too many viruses for you to fight! You need to evacuate!"

BeastMan stopped, and glared at the other Navi.

"Don't even try to stand between me and them, boy..."

Suddenly, his head snapped in another direction, as he caught Laserman's message to the Darkloids. "Hnn... the Net Saviors? Then my fight isn't here. Perhaps I'll be lucky enough and be the one to battle Netto Hikari..."

Copy stopped in his tracks, confused - but only until Beastman mentioned fighting Netto. The purple Navi's eyebrows drew together in a scowl. "You... you're part of this, aren't you." He gestured at the viral invasion, but kept his eyes fixed on the other navi, glaring. "I won't let you get away with this."

Punk and his team had been just surprised as anyone else when the Viruses had invaded, but action was their watch word. It was almost as if they spent all their time waiting for disaster to happen.

Punk led the group's charge, tucking into his armor and rolling through a line of viruses. KendoMan followed after, slashing through the offending programs with his sword, while GateMan hung back, blasting them from a distance with Gate Cannon.

Footman?

"Hut, hut, HIKE!" The Navi grunted, as his digital, orange-uniform clad "team-mates" appeared at his side, charging alongside him to do a line tackle into a mass of the viruses.

Being stuck in the network had made it his home of sorts, and Phantom was going to defend it as long as he was able. The rush of viruses had surprised him, but not stalled him into jumping into the fray. He had joined the net navis who were fighting the viruses in the public node.

Phantom brought the saber down on an attacking virus shaped like that of a ear of corn. He quickly turned and flung out a trio of kunai that he created at some of the smaller viruses before they could latch onto the other navi's.

Suddenly, about 20 feet away, a football (of all things) crashed into a mass of Garuu viruses, deleting them instantly.

"Sir!" said Punk, as he ran up with his fellow Navis, the latter of which launched the projectile. "If you are friend, do you have an interest in fighting together to stop these fiends?"

Phantom made a soft 'hnn' sound which was lost in the sound of fighting as he summon up his beam shuriken in hand. He had been fighting alone thus far, but with the amount of viruses, it was likely only a matter of time before he couldn't watch his own back. He nodded at Punk as he gave his answer. "Allies towards a common goal."

Activating the blades on the shuriken, he threw it up onto the air, where it spun and flew in an arc, slicing through some airplane viruses as they swooped down to attack them.

The rapid increase of viruses in the area didn't go without notice. Sigma didn't move to do anything until some started coming at him.

Blades came out from his knuckles and he quickly laid the first few to rest. But more began to gang up on him and he struggled to keep up. Two managed to latch onto him.

First Sigma dealt with one that was attacking his backside. The second was latched onto Sigma's leg, it appeared to be mimicking a feline of some sort.

"Ah! You shouldn't bite things that can be dangerous to your health!" Sigma's claws retracted his claws in one hand and got a tight grip on the back of the virus' neck.

The virus let go and made an odd sound. Soon it became solid purple with his eyes glowing red, infected with dark energy. Sigma let it go and watched it run off in a different direction. An odd smile came to his face, he might have to do this to others.

Laserman eyed the chaos from his hidden place; he would be smiling if he could.

"Attack, my Darkloids," he boomed. "Anywhere and everywhere you can. Find the Net Saviors and kill them. If any traitorous navis are found along the way... get rid of them."

Satisfied with his orders, he left his sancuary, appearing a little ways away from Sigma. "Not having any trouble, I see."

Sigma grew tense seeing Laserman, "You aren't behind this, are you?"

"No, but it is quite an event." Laserman was not a fighter. He could fight, and fight well, but he preferred his words over his strength. That said, he made an irritated noise and smashed a virus trying to latch itself to his leg. "If not somewhat annoying. I was going to offer my assistance, but you seem to be well off. Very well; I need to turn my attention to the outside world."

Elsa was walking through the civilian sectors of the network, accompanied by a few mettool virii. So far the attack was humming along, and none of her allies had even been discovered yet. Chaos and fear were painfully apparent over the communications she was intercepting, and it was all she could do to keep from giggling-- it had been far too long.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Shuuseki running through the simulation. With a wave of her hand, several dragon-type viruses manifested in his way. Maybe threatening him would lure Zero into the network.

Elsa flashed out an interrupt command, protecting one of the dragons as the other was hit full-force with the attack. The second, uninjured dragon leaped into the air in order to pounce on Shuuseki.

Back in his sanctuary, Laserman watched the chaos and chuckled to himself. There was far too much going to to track whether or not the Net Saviors had been taken down, but the death and destruction was satisfying. Once things calmed, then they could attack the exhausted. At the moment, his Darkloids could run free and enjoy themselves.

"Not out fighting alongside the troops, Laserman?"

Shademan's voice comes from above, where he clings to the ceiling. He spreads his wings, and drops down, landing in front of Laserman.

"What kind of leader are you?"

"One who leads." Laserman leaned back, eyeing Shademan. "What are you doing here?"

"You have to ask that, Laserman? You should have seen this coming a long time ago," Shademan snarls. "I'm going to make sure you don't continue to drag us down into the pit you're leading us into... I'm taking over!"
