Compared to some of the other areas in the city, the attack on the Network was almost anticlimactic. Viruses of every shape and description simply hit the major node-servers, both public and private

Back in his sanctuary, Laserman watched the chaos and chuckled to himself. There was far too much going to to track whether or not the Net Saviors had been taken down, but the death and destruction was satisfying. Once things calmed, then they could attack the exhausted. At the moment, his Darkloids could run free and enjoy themselves.

[darknesshade]

"Not out fighting alongside the troops, Laserman?"

Shademan's voice comes from above, where he clings to the ceiling. He spreads his wings, and drops down, landing in front of Laserman.

"What kind of leader are you?"

"One who leads." Laserman leaned back, eyeing Shademan. "What are you doing here?"

[darknesshade]

"You have to ask that, Laserman? You should have seen this coming a long time ago," Shademan snarls. "I'm going to make sure you don't continue to drag us down into the pit you're leading us into... I'm taking over!"

[the_darkloids]

Laserman laughed, making no move. "You Take over? How pitiful. You've done nothing but fail, Shademan. And yet you want to lead?"

[darknesshade]

"The only reason you've never failed is that you placed yourself so far above us..." he growled. "The responsibility has always fallen to us! You were nothing but Regal's pet before. Well, my lord and master, it's time for you to learn what true 'effort' is all about!"

ShadeMan smirked, and threw open his wings. Behind LaserMan, a dark hand rose out of the ground, slashing at LaserMan's back.

Laserman was not particularly fast, nor built for combat. There was something he did have - knowledge and power. He almost dodged the attack, taking a biting slash without complaint.

"Fool. I have given you enough chances, and I am not in the mood to play games." He lifted a hand, and then dropped it. "Starlight Blast!"

Meteors, several of them, rained from above.

ShadeMan flew, dodging the meteors as best he could. However, one succeeded in striking him, causing him to fall towards the ground.

He growled, straightening himself out, and sailing upwards. He unfurled his wings as wide as he could, and let out his most powerful sonic wave at LaserMan.

"You lack strategy," Laserman remarked, dodging. "And you use your weapons as a crutch. Cross Laser!"

The beam was fast, and would split into a cross-shaped attack on impact.

[darknesshade]

ShadeMan cried out as he was struck, and blasted into a wall. He roared in pain, dropping down, with an X-shaped mark on his chest.

"You... underestimate me...!" he roared. And suddenly, ShadeMan erupted into a swarm of bats, swarming at LaserMan, all of them attempting to bite him.

Laserman hissed, his cool demeanor slipping as he was attacked.

"Dark Laser!" he roared, trying to take out some of the bats with the attack.

[darknesshade]

The bats were blasted left and right, some of them evaporating due to Laserman's attack. However, the swarm began to reform back into ShadeMan, who quickly grabbed at LaserMan, intent on sinking his fangs into the other Darkloid's neck.

Laserman twisted his head, trying to fire off a laser in Shademan's face. "I'm beginning to tire of you."

[darknesshade]

ShadeMan was blasted back, struck in the shoulder rather than his face, due to a quick mid-air twist.

"Funny... I was feeling the exact same way!" He cried, spreading his wings, attempting a close range sonic blast.

Laserman simply vanished from sight, as if he had left the network.

[darknesshade]

"... What..? What did you just do...?!" Shademan growled, roaring in anger. He released waves throughout the room, intent on drawing LaserMan out.

"SHOW YOURSELF!"
