Slept in this morning. After breakfast, J and I did most of our packing; our bags need to be outside by bedtime for delivery to the dock in the morning. (They want most of them before dinner, but we want to put today's clothes in our smaller bags ( Read more... )

We had a very early shore excursion, so I figured out how to set the alarm on my phone and we got up at 6:30. This was the Saxman Totem Village; a bunch of us were on this: me, my siblings and nephew, Aunt AJ and her two kids and d-i-l. A longish drive, but we stopped by a fish hatchery, a waterfall, and a diving dock/jetty, as well as the totem ( Read more... )

Misread my watch and got up at 6:40 instead of the 7:40 that I thought it was. We had entered Glacier Bay already and were due at Margerie Glacier (the big one) by 9:15. Today started too early. My sister got up for the early train/bus ride; I was able to sleep in a little but got up by 8:00 because I was getting stiff and achy on this poor mattress. Got up entirely too early this morning and had a big breakfast since I was going to miss lunch. Attended a lecture about Alaskan wildlife by the cruise naturalist. My cousin L had raved about his earlier presentation, but I found him a terrible speaker, with awkward transitions between topics and far too little actual information about the topic ( Read more... )
