I'm working on a patchwork teddy bear. I took a standard pattern* and subdivided most of the pieces into multiple colors. Sixteen different fabrics, 61 individual pieces. This pattern normally has 21.
I have now spent seven hours working on it--not counting the design phase--and am up to the point where I can actually begin putting the bear together. Cutting out took two and a half hours--I usually figure about an hour, although it can be an hour and a half for a large animal with a lot of pieces. So it was four and a half hours to put all the smaller pieces together to make the full pattern pieces. (I've been thinking of them as "blocks," like quilt blocks.)
It's looking pretty good, if I do say so myself, although I'm a little sorry about one of the fabrics I'm using. It's a great fabric, but it doesn't really go with the rest.
