Made out of four different fabrics using a jaguar pattern, the chimera cat is seven inches high and fifteen inches long (including tail). One eye is green, the other yellow.

I ran into a little trouble with the chimera cat's tail and had to redo it. Now it's only two pieces, one for each side, instead of eight. I did carefully lay them out across the fabrics' color changes. The curved bits are the ends.

I am making a "chimera cat": a big cat (it's a jaguar pattern) made of pieces from four different fur fabrics, eight colors/patterns. It's going faster than I expected. So far, I have the head, tail, inner legs, and underbody pieced. I still have to piece the two sides, then I can begin actually putting it together.

I'm very proud of the Frankenteddy and very much want to show it off at Worldcon. That's why I didn't sell it to my colleague when he offered me $75 for it last spring. Just finished a patchwork teddy bear. In the early planning stages, I had been thinking of it as the Patchwork Bear of Oz, until I was describing my idea to some friends and one said, "a frankenbear!" That's a better designation.
