I hope you all survived the holidays and are refreshed. It was not a very jolly holiday for me, but I kept on an even keel. My mom was in the hospital for 9 days, and she'll be convalescing for a few weeks getting PT and speech therapy. It's at least getting her the medical attention she needs. I was really great to see folks I haven't seen in ages, and to reconnect with local fans and meet new people. Lots of fannish conversations, which is the best part of cons along with seeing friends. My oldest sister passed away quietly today at 3 PM. This all happened rather suddenly this week. She went to the ER on Monday unable to breathe, thinking the antibiotics she was prescribed two weeks ago for pneumonia and bronchitis weren't working for her. I had to get up at 4:30 this morning to get my mother to the airport on time. Ugh. I was so glad to see her, and it was a short but pleasant visit (4.5 days).
