I got an amazingly lot of things done yesterday.  Especially considering I slept in until 11.  But by far my favorite accomplishment of the day was setting up my parents' internet thingy to broadcast a wireless signal throughout our house, which evidently it has been capable of doing since they got it... if only I had known this before...

It came back!  New, improved, and actually working!  Internet is restored to my apartment!   

I found out this morning that maybe it's not that my laptop that hates me, but Windows Vista that hates everybody equally.  That really doesn't explain why all laptops with Vista won't connect to the internet through my apartment's LAN ethernet, but at least I don't feel quite so picked on now.
