Patchwork Heart

We all have a patchwork heart, some of us more literally than others.

Quilt retreat was weekend before last. I really needed the weekend away. I didn't get as much sewing done as I wanted as I made myself take it easy and take naps. I've been so busy looking after Mom in the evenings I haven't had a chance to unpack yet, let alone work on anything since then. Mom's started chemo - six rounds of 3 treatments each. So, ofenjen has challenged herself the past few years to finish her UFO's. I have not had the time or energy to work on things and that has resulted in a large pile of UFO's (unfinished fabric objects, for the non quilters reading) So, I am going to work and see how many of these I can knock off or at least make significant progress on this year ( Read more... )

I ordered this fabric to make something for myself, and something for a friend who is a fellow bookworm. The collection is called Bookish, By Jenni Calo for Connecting Threads.  People who know me well will probably find this partially amazing. In 6 years of quilting, I've never made anything for me. I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY sealed the long overdue box for ofenjen , and sent off my Quilts for Kids Kit in the nick of time. Don't you just hate it when you figure out how to do something and then when you go back, you can't do it again? I finally figured out how to get my arkansas snowflake block templates to make an actual block and not a wonky mess. There weren't any instuctions, just a diagram with NO FREAKING LETTERS.
