BBC2 started showing The Wire last week. What with everyone calling it the best thing in the universe (almost universally a bad sign - in fact the only instance I can think of a terminally hyped show actually turning out to be much cop is Battlestar Galactica) I thought I'd check it out.

Whilst watching Pushing Daisies on DVD tonight I thought I'd check to see if the second series was planning on making an appearance on these shores anytime soon. I find that not only is it planning on it, it did so six weeks ago, meaning I've missed half the series already. Crikey. Heroes is back on (although I suspect it's going to just get silly this season) and Spooks starts again next week. I can't keep up with two TV series to watch a week. All I need now is for them to bring back Life on Mars and I'm knackered.

They appear to be filming Rab C Nesbitt in the cafe at the bottom of my street. Which is odd, because I thought they'd stopped doing it years ago.

I was bored by the end of the trailer. I think the fact that they couldn't/didn't even get the music says it all. Anyone involved with this should rounded up and shot. Simple as.

I think I like Pushing Daisies. OK, so it's so Amelie that Jean-Pierre Jeunet could, and probably should, sue; it features the Bargain Basement Acting Agency's number one John Cusack substitute; and I'm not sure I'll get used to Anna Friel having (a) an American accent or (b) breasts, but it's fun and silly and I like it. I think the last time we got something that dire from the DVD club it was My Super Ex Girlfriend for which all invlolved should be publicly flogged. So Ashes to Ashes wasn't as good as Life on Mars. Could it ever have been, really. I mean I don't like telly much and even I was looking forward to whatever night Life on Mars was on for a new fix. Of course it's not the same without Ruth, but whatever. The only telly thing that's better than this'll be when Ashes to Ashes starts. Isn't it odd how most of my favourite telly seems to be made by the same people....
