I finally got around to driving the car at night with the XD-16 installed in the new gauge panel. The positioning seems very good as I can easily read the gauge but can also block view of the gauge by moving my hand up further on the steering wheel while cruising if the gauge illumination gets too distracting. The extremely short patch cable that came with my LC-1 kit was not going to be long enough to run behind the dash, so I had to order a longer cable. :(
