• Madonna's new song "Give It 2 Me" -- It's an ok song, kinda catchy, until the "Get Stupid" breakdown in the middle. It's well... you can guess. I'm all for a strong woman making statements at any age... but, Madge, they have to be GOOD to make any difference.

A few days ago, I finished Secret Ingredients, the book of collected food writings from The New Yorker. By and large, I really enjoyed it. The last section of the book was fiction, though, and I thought the choices they made were--with an exception or two--awful. Yesterday, I got paid my entire salary backlog. I'm very very happy.

Well, I got the contract job with the state. It's not all that fantastic (no insurance, crazy hours, no benefits at all) but it's better than what I've had. My last day at the jewelry store is June 29. I start with the state July 2.
